Batman: Arkham Asylum. The game begins with Batman escorting the Joker to Arkham Asylum in the Batmobile after finding him at Gotham City Hall. The situation at City Hall coincided with a "mysterious fire" at Blackgate Penitentiary, which sent many inmates, including members of the Joker's gang, to Arkham. Upon arriving at Arkham, Batman and several helmeted guards strap the Joker to a stretcher and take him to the intensive care unit. Batman accompanies the guards and the Joker to the holding cells, where the Arkham staff refuses to release Batman. While Commissioner Gordon is checking the Joker into the cell block, he breaks free from a guard and escapes Batman with the help of Harley Quinn. Batman, barred from entering the cell, enters through a glass window. Once Batman is inside the holding cell, the Joker activates his first trap, opening the cells and allowing Blackgate prisoners to rush outside and attack Batman. After another brief skirmish with other inmates, the Joker deactivates the security gate, allowing Batman to follow him, despite Commissioner Gordon's warning that it's most likely a trap. g the toxin.
